Scene introduces seniors to the art of film through an accessible and engaging experience. The classes explore three film genres, including comedy, feel-good films, and drama. In each class, we show some of the most iconic scenes in film history, bringing an appreciation for film to seniors. Following each film clip, participants engage in a discussion about what made the scene iconic, examining elements such as acting, dialogue, cinematography, music, and storytelling. Seniors will bring in their own life experiences, making the scene watching experience alive.

Ryan Nicholus
Ryan is a senior at Naperville Central High School.Ryan founded SCENE out of his passion for the art of filmmaking, and has been studying it for years. He loves the different aspects of filmmaking, finding them more descriptive and imaginative than reading a book would give you. He currently works at Regal Cinemas, where he does everything to make customers have a pleasant movie-watching experience. When he is not watching films or working at a movie theater, Ryan enjoys improving his financial literacy under the umbrella of business, and is currently on that career pathway. He hopes to combine his love for filmmaking with his interest in the world of business, looking forward to the possibility of financial analysis in the film industry down the road.
