Scene for Seniors
Engaging Seniors Through Film
SCENE introduces seniors to the art of film through an accessible and engaging experience. The classes explore three film genres, including comedy, feel-good films, and drama. When analyzing the films, seniors will bring in their personal life experiences, making the scene watching experience come alive.
The Workshops
Scene One
The first class will be on drama films, both old and new, such as Casablanca, The Godfather, and the Shawshank Redemption. After viewing each diverse clip seniors will have an opportunity to share their reactions and memories, making each scene a vehicle for conversation and connection.
Scene Two
The second class will be focused on feel good films such as Gone with the Wind, Titanic, and When Harry Met Sally. Through memorable scenes from each film, participants will explore what makes a romance film compelling and timeless to the viewer. Following each clip, participants will discuss the chemistry between characters and storytelling techniques that have made these romantic moments memorable throughout film history.
Scene Three
The third and final class will be centred around comedy films like The Great Dictator, The Naked Gun, Rush Hour, and Superbad. From memorable scenes from each film, participants will explore the different styles of comedy that have entertained audiences over the years. Following each clip, participants will discuss what makes the scenes funny while examining how humor has evolved throughout film history. By sharing memorable moments in film, Scene will encourage seniors to share their own perspectives, memories, and experiences with movies, reflecting on their own lives and the moments that have shaped them.
